University of Nevada Oral History Program Master Index (1965 to present) How to use this index The master index is a guide to all oral histories completed from 1965 through the present. Each oral history in the UNOHP's collection has been assigned a numerical code. The code is used to show which oral histories contain information about an individual item. (For a key to the code, see the Code List.) In an entry that appears thus: Gaming industry 150: 51-52, 64, 67-71, 74, 90-91, 122-124 151: 73-75, 83, 84-85, 89-90 158: 14-15, 31, 49-55, 59-62, 73-104 the researcher will know that information about the gaming industry has been provided by three chroniclers, whose names will be found by referring to the numbered code list. (In this case, the names are Bennett, Ullom, and Ray.) Information about the cited subject appears on the indicated pages of each oral history volume. There are instances when an oral history is saturated with information about a particular topic, and in these cases the reader is referred to the entire manuscript rather than to selected pages. For example, under the heading "Banking and Finance," the reader is referred to 169 (Art Smith's oral history, Let's Get Going!). Index entries for this volume are compiled alphabetically. Federal, state, and local agencies are listed by location and are also cross-indexed by name. For example, "Washoe County Planning Commission" is also cross-indexed under "Planning Commission, Washoe County." A note on subject headings: Oral histories have been indexed by subject as time, staffing, and funding have allowed. Subject headings, therefore, may not be all inclusive. There may be oral histories addressing particular topics that are not listed among the references for a heading. Major subjects addressed within oral histories are noted according to broad headings in the topical guide associated with the Collection Catalog. Click here to view the Master Index. |
